Tour de Queens
May 30th, 2012 | Posted by in Queens Council of Arts
For the more active among us, the warm weather and summery breeze has been the perfect excuse to be out and about. Now we also have the Tour de Queens, which happens on July 8th. This upcoming event in Queens is different every year as the route changes to highlight different parts of Queens. This year’s route will be announced June 1st, but you can register right now for free.
Although the whole trek is some 18 miles (which is not all that far on a bike), this event in Queens is just for fun. It’s not a race so you can bike leisurely with your family, stop whenever you want, and call it a day when you get exhausted. Police, medics, and volunteers will be providing medical assistance, bike assistance and water throughout the route. If you just moved to Queens and love to bike, this event is for you as it explores the borough’s many parks, bike friendly streets and bike routes. Not to mention you will get to rub elbows with other Queens’ bicyclists.
If you decide to participate just make sure your bike is in riding shape and you have a helmet and plenty of water. Tour de Queens’ website will give you more information on prepping for the ride.
